Do's & Don'ts
There are as many
do's as there are don'ts in the septic industry today. While
the list maybe long there is no reason to worry, most are simple
and easy to remember.
Do's
- Get as much information
as possible about your system.
- Educate family
members/employees about system in case something happens while
you are not there, so that they know what to do.
- Frequent checks
of septic system.
- Get system cleaned/serviced
at regular intervals.
- If in doubt, ask
questions.
Don'ts
- Dispose of meat,
bones in septic system.
- Use of a garbage
disposal unit.
- Drainage of water
softener unit into septic system.
- Pour dangerous
chemicals into septic system.
- Build over septic
field (such as a shed, garage, swimming pool).
- Overload septic
system (i.e: too many people using same system).
- Try to fix something
which you are not familiar with.
By not following
these suggestions, it could cost you hundreds, if not thousands
of dollars down the road. You could also harm, you, your family
and the environment around you. A septic system is an important
part of your home or business and needs to be properly maintained
so that it can continue to do the job it was designed to do.
